Wilderado Triumphantly Debuts Melancholic New Single “Bad Luck”

New Full-Length Studio Album Talker out 9/20 via Bright Antenna Records

Just a month after the announcement of their upcoming studio album “Talker” – set to be released on September 20th via Bright Antenna Records – the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based band Wilderado, consisting of Max Rainer (lead singer, guitarist), Tyler Wimpee (guitarist, vocals), and Justin Kila (drums), unveils their melancholic masterpiece, “Bad Luck”. When asked about this latest release, Rainer expressed, “‘Bad Luck’ holds a special place in my heart. One of the reasons is its rawness. The drums, guitars, and vocals were all recorded in one take, giving it a sense of urgency that never fades. The track served as a sanctuary for pessimism and the harsh reality that aging is tough. It’s like we’re all cursed with bad luck and life only gets tougher, but occasionally, you stumble upon a lover and a hotel. Perhaps we’re navigating through moments of joy, disbelief, and secrets, but we’re surviving.”

“Bad Luck” is the fifth single to be released from “Talker” – the band’s second album, recorded in Norman, Oklahoma, and produced by Chad Copelin (Sufjan Stevens, SYML) and James McAlister (Gracie Abrams, The National). In May, Wilderado unveiled the acoustic-tinged title track “Talker” alongside the album announcement. This was followed by the double single “Sometimes” b/w “Tomorrow” in March, and at the end of 2023, they released “In Between” – a single that saw several alternate versions, one featuring guest vocals from Matt Berninger of The National and one with a few fellow Oklahomans including folk/Americana artist Ken Pomeroy on vocal and guitar and Muskrat Jones (Colter Wall) on pedal steel.

Last month, the band also announced a fall headline tour coinciding with the album release, extending their extensive Spring and Summer run through the end of October. In addition to playing mostly sold-out headline dates, Wilderado will be performing at Lollapalooza in August and the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion Festival in September. The current stretch of confirmed dates will culminate with a headline show in their hometown at Cain’s Ballroom on October 26th, with Josiah & The Bonnevilles as the opening act.

Wilderado’s expansive indie rock blends soaring vocals and rumbling guitars with an open-road, Americana-inspired feel. Since their formation, they have been steadily amassing a passionate fan base, racking up over 200 million streams and more than 3 million monthly listeners across platforms. Their live following has continued to grow each year. “Talker” follows the band’s self-titled debut full-length album, released in October 2021 via Bright Antenna Records, which led to their Late Night TV Debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and AM TV Debut on CBS Saturday Morning.
