NEW YORK RAPPER ANDRE LAWRENCE’S “SEPTEMBER, NOVEMBER” VIDEO TAKES VIEWERS ON A DREAMY JOURNEY
NEW ALBUM CORDUROY OUT NOW
Pass The Butter artist Andre Lawrence releases the cinematic video for his melodic track, “September, November.” The visual takes viewers on a global journey, capturing the shifting tides of emotion. Opening in Chinatown, it moves seamlessly from sun-soaked beaches to ethereal cityscapes, highlighting changing climates and blooming landscapes that mirror the track’s warm, dreamy energy. From these diverse environments to the streets of New York City, the video creates an immersive, reflective experience that amplifies its poignant pull.
“September, November” appears on Andre’s recently released album Corduroy. Executively produced by Zuko, the project reveals another side of Andre as he navigates growing pains, conflict, anxiety, and the pressures of forging his own path. “By touching on my own ambitions and insecurities while growing up in New York, I illustrate the neuroses involved with being 21 and having a turbulent relationship with everything” Andre shares. This project offers a sharp, self-aware look at what it means to find your footing in the real world. “I think the coming-of-age album is becoming a little cliché. This album is more like a case study on the chaotic ups and downs of young adulthood.” Since its arrival, Corduroy has received support from Complex, Ones To Watch, Okayplayer, Marvin Magazine, Newsweek, and more, with critics praising its “narrative ambition” and lived-in, unfiltered storytelling, as well as its cinematic, emotionally rich sound.
While spending his days skateboarding around Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Andre found a new outlet after breaking his arm: music. “What I love about skating is you have to mess up a trick 100 times before you land it. There’s no way around it, you have to be okay with being shitty at first,” he explains. Andre applies that same tenacity to his music, dedicating himself fully to perfecting his craft. His verses blend introspective storytelling and raw, unfiltered expression, influenced by rap icons Tyler, the Creator, Big L, and Jay-Z, as well as musical inspirations like Stevie Wonder and Dominic Fike. Corduroy blends soulful production, introspective lyrics, upbeat moments, and softer, vulnerable passages, reflecting the rollercoaster of Lawrence’s journey, from uncertainty and self-doubt to newfound confidence.
With the support of his community, unwavering work ethic, and both old-school and modern influences, Andre Lawrence proves through Corduroy that self-discovery is just the beginning for a young artist you will want to watch as he carves out his place in the world.
