This past Sunday Chicago’s Lincoln Hall hosted a packed crowd as Good Neighbours delivered an unforgettable performance that juggled playful charm with tight musicianship.
The night began with an engrossing opening set from Ber; an indie-pop singer-songwriter from Minnesota, who captivated the audience with her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. She was a natural on stage causally mixing in crowd work in between songs and getting the audience to perform the chorus for a few of her songs. Ber’s acoustic-driven sound, paired with her approachable stage presence, set a mellow yet excited tone for the show.

As the lights dimmed for the main act, the band made a bold and cheeky entrance. Mr. Rogers’ theme song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” played through the speakers, sparking cheers and laughs from the crowd. It was a fitting nod to the band’s name and their reputation for creating a welcoming, positive atmosphere with their sound. Good Neighbours emerged from behind the curtain with an excited energy, visibly thrilled to be playing for the windy city crowd.
From the first song “Keep It Up”, one of their viral hits, the band had the audience in the grasp of their hand. Their indie-pop sound was simultaneously fresh and nostalgic, blending shimmering guitars, catchy melodies, and irresistible rhythms reminiscent of the early 2010s indie pop wave. Songs like “Home” and “Sunshine in the City” stood out as highlights, with the crowd singing along to every word. The chemistry between the band members was palpable, and their playful banter between songs made the room feel intimate despite its almost full capacity.

As the set drew to a close, the audience was left buzzing, energized by the band’s joyful, feel-good performance. Good Neighbours once again proved they know how to make any concert feel like a special event. More than just a gig this concert felt like a gathering of friends.
