On June 4, 2025, Japanese rock band One OK Rock brought their Detox Tour to Toronto’s Budweiser Stage. The mostly open-air venue was nearly full, with an energetic demographic. The lineup started early, extending long outside the venue.

The crowd was fully engaged from the moment the bands set foot on stage. Fans screamed, sang along word-for-word, jumped when asked, waved in unison, and even participated in the classic crouch-and-jump moment on command. The sheer volume made this one of the loudest concerts I’ve ever experienced—earplugs were a must at times.

Australian pop-punk band Stand Atlantic opened the night and matched the crowd’s energy with rebellious flair. Lead singer Bonnie Fraser’s strong and versatile vocals carried each song with emotion and confidence, and her on-stage banter gave the set a casual, intimate feel. She shared the story behind writing a love song just before a breakup, kissed her guitarist on the cheek, and laughed as he joked about it being “slobbery.” Highlights included the song “Nosebleed,” about stage anxiety, and a crowd-led wave across the amphitheatre. The band mentioned their deluxe album had just gone #1 in Australia, and judging by the crowd’s reaction, many were already fans.

When One OK Rock hit the stage, they wasted no time launching into their high-powered set. Opening with fan-favorite “Puppets Can’t Control You,” they kept the momentum going with a barrage of hits like “Tropical Therapy,” “Delusion: All,” “Stand Out Fit In,” and more. The band’s chemistry was on full display—each member was introduced with charisma, and the instrumental solos, especially from the drummer and lead guitarist, had the crowd entranced. During one of the most engaging moments, Moriuchi had the entire crowd crouch down before exploding upward in a synchronized jump—just one of several call-and-response moments that kept fans locked in. A standout moment was when lead singer Takahiro Moriuchi went into the back of the crowd to perform, creating a powerful, personal connection. He did an incredible job involving the entire audience in the show.

Visually, the setup included big side screens and atmospheric lighting, but it was the band’s sheer presence that drove the show. The weather, which had threatened to turn earlier in the day, ended up being perfect for the outdoor performance.

What stood out most was the sense of unity between the band and the crowd. Moriuchi opened up about his life and reflected on the chaos in today’s world, sharing his belief that music can be a powerful force for connection and change. He expressed hope that their songs could bring people together and have a lasting positive impact. That sincerity made the performance feel even more grounded and meaningful.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or catching One OK Rock live for the first time, this tour proves why their shows are so revered—unrelenting energy, raw talent, and a crowd connection that hits hard and lasts.
