German quartet Tokio Hotel stopped on their Beyond The World-Tour at Huxley’s Neue Welt in Berlin, offering the fans (new and old) an evening full of joy, nostalgia and a lot of costume changes.
As the clock struck nine, it was stage time for Tokio Hotel. The show started with a dramatic reveal, as the giant curtain fell and the fans could see the lavish stage design and the band entering the stage. The focus, most of the evening, was on Bill Kaulitz and his sensational costumes, which he changed about maybe six times. He started the show on a platform further back on stage in a suit full of rhinestones, guitar and a pink cowboy hat.

Their set offered a mixture of their early “pop rock” and “alternative rocks” sounds, that partly could’ve been also seen as a bit more emo back then, and the newer more electro- and synth pop sounds. They started off with “White Lies”, one of the newer electro pop songs, which slowly raised the mood and slowly heated up the fans for the rest of the evening. They continued strong with “Automatic” and later followed up with songs like “Love Who Loves You Back”, “What If” and “Girl Got A Gun” which animated the fans more and more and reignited the mood again and again and partly moved the fans to join in and dance along.
A highlight of the evening was the surprise appearance of Kraftklub to their joint song “Fahr mit mir (4×4)” and some of their early songs like “Spring nicht”, that gave some of the fans some moments of pure teenage year-nostalgia. But the biggest highlight, that I’m sure of most concertgoers were secretly and not so secretly were waiting for the whole set (myself included), was “Durch den Monsun” which is probably also still their most recognizable song and they played during their encore. That gave the audience the chance to give their all once more and it felt like there were only a few people weren’t singing along. The show ended on a high note with “Runaways”, which rounded off the throughout entertaining show well and left everyone wanting more.
