RISING MEXICAN PHENOMENON PATRICK LUNA DANCES BETWEEN ROMANTICISM AND REALISM ON DEBUT EP,‘+ ROMÁNTICO QUE BÉLICO’
Where romanticism dances with a crash of realism, ‘+ Romántico Que Bélico’ is a world where all of Patrick Luna’s most heartfelt love notes soar. Exploring the realm of regional Mexican music, the rising phenomenon honors his motherland with his own interpretation of the genre’s essence to create modern day love songs – penning his firsthand encounters with romance in the most authentic way. ‘+ Romántico Que Bélico’ is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
‘+ Romántico Que Bélico’ sees the Mexican star expand his own creative horizons, unafraid to put his heart on the line to present one of his most intimate bodies of work to date. On “Vulnerable,” Patrick displays a distinctive vulnerability while confessing “porque soy vulnerable, puedes herirme, pero me quedaré” (I’m vulnerable, and you can hurt me, but I will stay) over intricate guitar weeps. “Carrusel” is a restless pursuit where Patrick charms his muse over an enchanting bolero instrumental. In its repertoire, ‘+ Romántico Que Bélico’ also features a mesmerizing reimagined version of Prince Royce’s classic hit “Corazón Sin Cara.” Subbing out the silky bachata beat with a bright requinto, Patrick effortlessly eases into the song’s charisma with his own regional twist.
Of the project, Patrick shares: “When I first started this project, I had a clear idea that I wanted to represent my country, Mexico, exploring the sounds of regional Mexican music in more depth. I’m a natural romantic, and that’s what I’m most passionate about writing, because it comes from a place of authenticity and sincerity.”
“De Antes” is an exciting pop number that captures a lovesick Patrick pining after the girl of his dreams. Exploring the depths of his own sonic realm, the song pairs a cheery guitar melody with a dreamy pop drum beat to pen the perfect love letter. Takes like “Me Cuesta Tanto” and “El Malo” embody the turmoil shadowing the end of a relationship, and find Patrick weaving between the stages of coping.
“From there ‘+ Romántico Que Bélico’ was born, a project that reflects my essence: to be faithful to my songwriting and to the experiences I have lived. I don’t identify or aspire towards being bélico (warlike), because that lifestyle just isn’t part of me. While I admire what other artists are achieving with different styles, my approach is different. I want to represent Mexico in an authentic way, showing a more personal and genuine side that connects with those who share this sensibility and are looking for something close to their own essence.”– Patrick Luna
Patrick Luna has quickly managed to captivate the hearts and minds of everyone around him with his innate charm and talent as a true singer and songwriter.
